The news: The Lottery Corporation managing director and CEO Sue van der Merwe has told the board she intends to retire by the end of the 2025 calendar year.
The numbers: Van der Merwe joined The Lottery Corporation as CEO in June 2022, following leadership roles at Golden Casket and Tatts Group (both now owned by The Lottery Corporation), as well as Tabcorp.
The context: The company said it will immediately begin a search process to select van der Merwe's successor.
What they said: "Sue has played an instrumental role in the success of the lottery industry in Australia over more than three decades," said chairman Doug McTaggart.
"Her deep experience and expertise have helped [The Lottery Corporation] to become the leading operator of lottery and Keno games in Australia and one of the best performing lottery businesses in the world," he said.
