Lynas Rare Earths hits sales record in June quarter 2025
The news: Lynas Rare Earths reported record gross sales revenue and production in the June quarter.
The rare earths producer also said it has signed a memorandum of understanding with biotech company JS Link to collaborate on developing a magnet manufacturing facility in Malaysia.
The numbers: Gross sales revenue hit $170.2 million in the June quarter, which is 24.6% higher year-on-year. Sales receipts for the June quarter were at $152.7 million, about 30% higher.
The average sales price across the period was $60.2 per kilogram, the highest since the July 2022 quarter.
Production of neodymium and praseodymium hit 2,080 tonnes for the June quarter, the first time it has exceeded 2,000 tonnes. Total quarterly rare earth oxide production hit 3,212 tonnes, a 46.8% increase year-on-year.
Cash payments for capex, exploration and development totalled $88.1 million in the quarter. Closing cash and short term deposits were $166.4 million at the end of the quarter.
The context: The company produced dysprosium oxide and terbium oxide for the first time in the June quarter making it the only commercial producer of heavy rare earth oxides outside China.
High average sales were in part due to Lynas’ focus on “developing strategic customer relationships, development of new guaranteed supply chains and the implementation of a balanced pricing portfolio with pricing agreements independent of the market index”.
Lynas said that market volatility due to global trade uncertainties is expected to continue in the September quarter but the company said it is experiencing “a significant increase in demand from direct end customers and new magnet maker projects”.
