The news: Macquarie Technology Group has announced the retirement of long-serving chair Peter James and the appointment of non-executive director Lisa Brock as his successor.
The context: James, who will leave the company after the release of its half-year results next month, has served as chair for 11 years and as a director for 13 years.
Brock has been on Macquarie Tech's board for three years and chaired the audit and risk management committee for the last year. She previously held executive roles at Qantas and Jetstar, and served on the board of software giant WiseTech Global for a year before resigning in February 2025.
Macquarie Tech said it expects to announce the appointment of a new independent non-executive director in the coming months.
What they said: "I am incredibly proud of the 11 consecutive years of profitable growth and the ten-fold increase in share price that has been delivered during my time as chair," said James.
"The time is right for me to hand over leadership of the board to Lisa as the company enters its next phase of significant investment and growth."
Brock commented: "I am excited by the opportunities for Macquarie Technology to innovate, invest and grow its digital infrastructure to support Australia's cloud and AI future."
