Macquarie Technology Group flags up to $3b cost for new data centre campus
The news: Macquarie Technology Group estimates that its plans for a new 150MW data centre campus would require between $2.5 billion and $3 billion in growth capital, excluding the value of land.
The numbers: In July, Macquarie announced that it had entered a $240 million put and call option for the purchase of land in Sydney from an undisclosed property investment and development company.
The context: Macquarie Technology Group told investors on Tuesday that the new data centre campus build is expected to be in “a few years” and is currently investigating “a range of potential funding alternatives”.
The group is also considering additional phases of its IC3 Super West data centre campus associated with customer growth. It also said that IC3 Super West will be ready for service in Q3 of calendar year 2026.
