The news: Drinks, pubs and pokies operator Endeavour will let shareholders vote on appointing former Myer chair Bill Wavish to its board following pressure from shareholder and billionaire pub baron Bruce Mathieson.

The numbers: Endeavour owns Dan Murphys, BWS and roughly 350 pubs. Mathieson last month slammed chair Peter Hearl and chief executive Steve Donohue for poor performance, including implementing Victorian poker machine reforms 10 months early, which Mathieson said cost millions in revenue. News of the vote had little effect on Endeavour shares, which have lost more than 25% of their value in 12 months and were trading 0.19% lower for the day, fetching $5.22 at 12:30pm AEST.

The context: Mathieson, who owns 15% of the company according to the Australian Financial Review, is backing Wavish to become an independent director at the company. Shareholders will vote on a resolution to elect Wavish at Endeavour's AGM on 31 October.
