The news: Megaport has appointed current non-executive director Melinda Snowden as its new chair, replacing the Network as a Service (NaaS) provider's founder Bevan Slattery on 30 June.

The context: Megaport announced in November 2023 that Slattery would step down from the board, having founded the Brisbane-based company in 2013. Along with Megaport, Slattery has also founded ASX companies PIPE Networks, NEXTDC, Asia Pacific Data Centre Group and Superloop. He is also the founder and CEO of his family office SODA.

Snowden has served as non-executive director of the company, and chair of its audit and risk committee, since June 2021. She has been a non-executive director since 2010, having served on listed and private boards across finance, retail, property, digital and technology sectors.

Snowden also serves on the board of ASX-listed retailer Temple & Webster, and held previous non-executive roles as ASX-listed companies Best & Less Group Holdings, Newmark Property REIT and WAM Leaders.

What they said: Slattery said: "With a great CEO and management team in place and a clear strategy moving forward, our chair search has been focussed on identifying candidates who can best represent shareholders' interests and also support management in executing strategy over the coming years".

"As a three-year veteran of the board and chair of the audit and risk committee, Melinda has extensive ASX experience, a deep understanding of Megaport's business, a long track record in governance and the ability to provide continuity to the board," he said.
