The news: Metcash has appointed Nicky Sparshott as its non-executive director, effective 1 July, succeeding long-serving director Helen Nash after announcing her retirement.
The context: Sparshott brings over 30 years of experience in the retail sector, having previously served in senior executive roles across Unilever, Coca-Cola and Protecter & Gamble spanning the US, UK and Europe.
She was also named CEO of the year by The CEO Magazine in 2022, during her dual role as the CEO of Unilever Australia and New Zealand and the global CEO of T2 Tea.
She will be succeeding Nash, who is retiring from the Metcash board following a 10 year tenure that included serving as the chair of the audit, risk and compliance committee.
