Mineral Resources loses another board member as Denise McComish quits
The news: Mining group Mineral Resources has announced the resignation of non-executive director Denise McComish, a week after the abrupt departure of fellow board members Susie Corlett and Jacqueline McGill.
The context: Following the departure of Corlett and McGill, McComish had been the final member left of the ethics and governance committee set up following a series of scandals last year.
McCormish joined the MinRes board in December 2023 and also serves as a non-executive director of companies and entities including Gold Road Resources, Web Travel Group, Synergy and Beyond Blue.
The context: MinRes also confirmed it is "well progressed" in efforts to appoint a new chair this quarter. The board and new chair will review the board composition and prioritise the appointment of new directors, it said.
The company is currently facing a formal investigation from corporate regulator ASIC after managing director Chris Ellison last year admitted to involvement in an alleged tax evasion scheme. It is also facing class action proceedings in the Supreme Court of Victoria.
