Myer names new CFO, revamps executive team
The news: Department store chain Myer has named a new chief financial officer and announced a number of other appointments to bolster its executive leadership following its acquisition of Apparel Brands.
The numbers: The retailer said CFO Matt Jackman will leave after eight years to pursue other opportunities and named Kathy Karabatsas as his replacement, effective 14 March. It also appointed Megan Collins as Chief People Officer from 28 April, while Belinda Slifkas has been appointed Chief Merchandise Officer.
The context: Karabatsas has held senior leadership roles across retail and consumer goods industries and previously served as Chief Financial Officer at David Jones and Managing Director and Finance Director of Lion Dairy & Drinks. Collins has over 25 years of global experience in human resources roles including at Newcrest Mining and Treasury Wine Estates. The company said a new role of Chief Product Officer has been created with the recruitment process well underway and also announced recent appointments of a Chief Information Officer and Chief Supply Chain Officer.
Myer CEO Olivia Wirth said the leadership changes materially enhance the group’s capability to drive the next phase of growth following its acquisition of Premier's Apparel Brands business. “The new appointments bring world-class expertise in multi-brands and department store environments and a track record of financial, retail and supply chain success to the Myer Group.”
