Neuren to benefit from sale of FDA priority review voucher

The news: Neuren Pharmaceuticals will receive a third of the proceeds from the sale of a priority review voucher (PRV) granted by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The numbers: Neuren said its US partner Acadia Pharmaceuticals has agreed to sell the Rare Pediatric Disease PRV for USD150 million ($226 million).

The Australian company is entitled to a third of the proceeds.

The context: Neuren said the PRV was granted by the FDA following the approval of the Daybue drug that was launched in April 2023.

Under the FDA’s voucher program, a sponsor who receives an approval for a drug for a rare paediatric disease may qualify for a voucher that can be redeemed to receive priority review for a different product. The voucher can also be sold or transferred to another sponsor.

Acadia has exclusive rights to develop and commercialise globally Daybue, used for treatment of Rett Syndrome.
