Newmont Corporation promotes Natascha Viljoen to CEO
The news: Newmont Corporation will promote its president and chief operating officer Natascha Viljoen to the chief executive role, with incumbent Tom Palmer set to resign on 31 December 2025.
The context: Palmer has served in the top job since 2019 and has been with Newmont for around 12 years. He will also resign from the board of directors when he vacates the chief executive role but will remain with the company as a strategic adviser until he retires on 31 March 2026.
Viljoen will fill the role and join the board of directors on 1 January 2026. She first joined Newmont in 2023 as executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Viljoen was previously the CEO of the world’s largest primary producer of platinum, Anglo American Platinum, now known as Valterra.
