NextDC begins construction on TK1 Tokyo data centre
The news: NextDC has marked the start of construction of its first data centre facility in Japan, which has a targeted completion date for late 2030.
The numbers: At 2:25pm AEDT, shares in NextDC had ticked down 0.6% to $13.50.
The context: The facility is situated in Tokyo’s Minato ward and is touted as being “a next-generation, AI-ready data centre” with 28 megawatts of planned IT capacity and a mission critical operations centre.
It will also have an Uptime Institute Tier IV rating for design and construction and for gold certification and operational sustainability.
NextDC also said it would have integrated interconnection with its ecosystem across the Asia Pacific region and Australia.
What they said: "Delivered in partnership with CBRE Investment Management and our leading global technology partners, TK1 Tokyo strengthens our ability to support customers’ growth, resilience and sustainability ambitions across the region," NextDC CEO and managing director Craig Scroggie said.
