Nine's independent director Samantha Lewis to depart
The news: Nine Entertainment has announced that non-executive director Samantha Lewis will step down from the board on 1 June.
The context: Nine said Lewis’ exit was foreshadowed in December 2024 and appointed Timothy Longstaff as an independent non-executive director in January 2025. Longstaff has replaced Lewis as chair of the audit and risk management committee.
Last year, Nine’s board came under fire after shareholders urged its directors to be held accountable for the company’s toxic culture following a spate of scandals.
What they said: Nine chair Catherine West said: “I thank Sam for her commitment to Nine as both a director and chair of the audit and risk management committee over the past 8 years”.
“... In particular, Sam’s steady hand and attention to detail has proven invaluable, particularly to myself as chair over the past 12 months, and I wish her well for the future.”
