NRW Holdings subsidiary Primero secures $100m Rio Tinto contract
The news: NRW Holdings subsidiary Primero Group has been awarded a $100 million contract by mining giant Rio Tinto for work at its seawater desalination project in Western Australia.
The numbers: Construction and mining contractor NRW said the contract will run for around 12 months, starting immediately.
NRW also announced that another of its subsidiaries, Action Drill & Blast, has secured two blast hole drill contracts with coal miner Yancoal, valued at $19 million.
Meanwhile, fellow NRW subsidiary Golding Contractors has been awarded a $60 million contract for civil works by the BHP Mitsubishi Alliance at the Peak Downs in Moranbah, Queensland.
The context: Rio Tinto has contracted Primero to oversee procurement and construction works for the seawater desalination project at Parker Point, Dampier, in WA. The work includes seawater intake, treatment facility and conveyance piping.
