The news: OpenAI plans to announce its artificial intelligence-powered search product on Monday, Reuters reported, citing two sources familiar with the matter.

The context: The announcement date of OpenAI's search product, which will be an extension of its flagship ChatGPT chatbot, has not previously been reported.

Bloomberg and the Information previously reported that Microsoft-backed OpenAI is working on a search product to potentially compete with Alphabet's Google, as well as AI search startup Perplexity.

An announcement on Monday would fall a day before Google's annual I/O conference commences, where the tech company is expected to unveil a suite of new AI-related products.

OpenAI declined to comment.
