The news: Artificial intelligence firm OpenAI has launched a version of its AI chatbot, called ChatGPT Enterprise, targeted at large businesses.

The numbers: ChatGPT Enterprise will offer response times twice as fast as previous versions, and will have no usage caps. OpenAI said the tool has been in development for “under a year” with the help of more than 20 companies of varying sizes and industries.

The context: OpenAI released the consumer-focused ChatGPT in November last year, racking up 100 million monthly active users by January and setting off widespread usage of generative AI in daily tasks. However, many employers have discouraged the use of the chatbot for work-related tasks. The company is hoping the latest launch makes employers feel comfortable embracing ChatGPT usage at work and said users of ChatGPT Enterprise will have control and ownership over their data, which will not be used to train GPT at all.
