Ora Banda picks Sandfire Resources chair John Richards as chair-elect

The news: Ora Banda Mining has named Sandfire Resources chair John Richards as non-executive director and chair-elect.
The context: Richards will join the board on 1 May. The company said he is expected to take the role of chair from Peter Mansell, who has indicated he will retire from the board at the close of the annual general meeting in November.
Richards is currently non-executive chair of copper miner Sandfire Resources and lead independent non-executive director of mineral sands focused Sheffield Resources.
He has previously held directorships with gold producers Northern Star and Saracen Minerals Holdings, and precious and base metals miner Adriatic Metals.
Before that, Richards was managing director of then ASX-listed Buka Minerals.
What they said: “John is an outstanding successor to the Ora Banda chair, having demonstrated throughout his career the attributes necessary to guide Ora Banda through its next growth phase,” said Mansell.
