Origin Energy CFO Lawrie Tremaine to retire
The news: Origin Energy has announced chief financial officer Lawrie Tremaine will retire at the end of July 2024.
The numbers: Tremaine has been in the role for almost seven years and was CFO for six years at rival Woodside prior to joining Origin.
The context: As much of the world moves away from coal, Tremaine played a critical role in Origin’s strategy and ambition to lead the company's energy transition. Origin’s long-term goal is to be net zero in Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by 2050. Its short-term ambition is a 40% reduction in these emissions by 2030. The firm has commenced a process to appoint Tremaine’s successor.
What they said: Origin CEO Frank Calabria said: “[Lawrie] has provided key leadership in improving the strength of our balance sheet and capital framework, and in strategic decisions that have transformed Origin”.
