Outgoing NAB CEO Ross McEwan to join BHP board
The news: Outgoing CEO of National Australia Bank Ross McEwan will join BHP's board as non-executive director next month.
The numbers: Following the recent announcement that he will step down from his executive roles at NAB on 2 April, BHP said McEwan will join BHP's board on 3 April. He has led the bank since December 2019.
The context: In February, NAB announced that Andrew Irvin, who has led NAB’s business and private banking unit since 2020, will replace McEwan as group CEO and managing director.
Prior to his role at NAB, McEwan held leadership roles at AXA, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Royal Bank of Scotland.
What they said: BHP chair Ken MacKenzie said: "Ross brings a strong focus on people and culture, technology and innovation and has deep experience in capital allocation and value creation".
"Ross has worked closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including customers, governments and regulators and brings a global perspective," he said.
