The news: Asset manager Pacific Current Group has named former Challenger boss Michael Clarke as its acting chief executive, and appointed Joanne Dawson as non-executive director.

The context: Clarke’s appointment comes after former CEO Paul Greenwood moved to GQG after Pacific Current sold its stake in the investment manager and divested minority stakes in Proterra Investment Partners, Cordillera Investment Partners and Avante Capital Partners to it.

Pacific Current said Dawson has experience in highly regulated service businesses coupled with a long history of corporate transactions.

Dawson has previously served in senior positions at Deloitte and National Australia Bank and currently sits on the boards of Centuria Capital, PetSure and AMA Group.
