Peter Kell appointed chair of Super Consumers Australia

The news: Former ASIC deputy chair Peter Kell has been appointed chair of superannuation customer advocacy group Super Consumers Australia, a partner of consumer advocacy group CHOICE.

The context: Kell has previously held senior leadership roles at the Australian Financial Security Authority, Financial Counselling Industry Fund, Australian Financial Complaints Authority and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. He was also formerly CEO of CHOICE.

What they said: “Peter has spent his career working to make markets fairer, safer and more accountable for consumers,” Super Consumers Australia CEO Xavier O’Halloran said.

“His deep experience in consumer advocacy, financial services and regulation will be invaluable as Super Consumers Australia continues to push for a superannuation system that works for people on low and middle incomes.”
