The news: Lithium play Pilbara Minerals' chief commercial and legal officer and company secretary Alex Eastwood will step down later this month after seven years with the miner. Deputy secretary Danielle Webber will become joint company secretary until Eastwood departs on 24 November.

The context: Pilbara was an early success story in the now ubiquitous West Australian lithium scene, enjoying massive gains in recent years through its Pilgangoora project in WA — the world’s largest, independent hard-rock lithium operation.

What they said: "It’s been an incredible journey and I’m very proud of what we as a team have achieved in building a market leading company in a relatively new industry," Eastwood said in a statement.

"Pilbara Minerals is now in an enviable position with a strong balance sheet and portfolio of exciting growth projects and opportunities ahead."
