Pilbara Minerals beats FY25 production guidance after leap in Q4 output
The news: Lithium miner Pilbara Minerals has topped production guidance for the 2025 financial year after seeing a 77% jump in output during the June quarter.
The numbers: Pilbara reported annual production of 754,600 tonnes, up 4% year on year and above its guidance range of 700,000 to 740,000 tonnes.
Production jumped 77% quarter on quarter to 221,300 tonnes, due to increased output from Pilbara's Pilgan Plant following its expansion earlier in the year.
The miner has guided production of between 820,000 and 870,000 tonnes in the 2026 financial year.
FY25 sales were up 7% compared to FY24, totalling 760,100 tonnes. However, Pilbara's realised price was 43%, lowered year on year at USD672 per tonne, seeing revenue drop 43% to $769 million.
Full-year unit operating costs of $627 per tonne were within guidance of between $620 to $640 per tonne. Pilbara has guided lower costs in FY26 at $560 to $600 per tonne.
The context: The miner said it expects its full-year financial results to reflect its recent ramp-up in activities amid a low lithium price environment.
In the second half it expects a "similar net loss after tax" for its POSCO Pilbara Lithium Solutions joint venture as seen in the first half, after the project was hit by writedowns earlier this year.
