PoinstBet flags FY25 revenue, EBITDA to come in at bottom end of guidance
The news: Online bookmaker PointsBet expects revenue and EBITDA for financial year 2025 to come in at the bottom of previously announced guidance, as the board recommends an off-market takeover bid from Japanese entertainment company MIXI.
The numbers: In February, PointsBet provided full-year revenue guidance of between $260 million and $270 million and EBITDA guidance of between $11 million and $14 million. In its trading update today, it did not provide reasons as to why it was now expecting guidance to be at the lower end.
The context: PointsBet’s board has backed an offmarket takeover proposed by MIXI after an initial takeover bid failed to get the requisite majority at a shareholder vote on Wednesday.
This bid’s defeat was partly driven by rival bookmaker Betr — PointsBet’s largest shareholder — which has been trying to outbid MIXI for months.
