Property group GPT rings leadership changes

The news: GPT Group has announced the appointment of new chief investment officer Mark Harrison and the retirement of long-term chief operating officer Mark Fookes.

The numbers: Fookes has served as GPT's COO since 2015, and has also held the roles of head of retail, head of investment management, and chief financial officer over a 19-year career with the ASX-listed property group.

The context: GPT said its new CIO Harrison has been appointed to assist in the delivery of the group's strategy and to drive growth and long-term value for shareholders. He will be responsible for investments, portfolio management, strategy, capital transactions, corporate development, and research, as well as other related functions.

The Sydney-based REIT said Harrison will join the company "as soon as practicable".

What they said: On Harrison's appointment, GPT's CEO and managing director Russell Proutt said: "Mark's extensive mult-sector domestic and global experience will be valuable in supporting the development and execution of GPT's growth strategy".
