The news: Qantas has promoted Andrew Glance to lead its loyalty program. Glance replaces chief loyalty officer Olivia Wirth, who announced her resignation in October, a week after her appointment to Myer's board.

The numbers: Glance is a 16-year Qantas veteran, with many of those spent in the loyalty program, and he was most recently executive manager of commercial partnerships and business rewards. He will transition to the role and join Qantas' leadership team when Wirth departs at the end of February.

The context: Qantas has undergone a major shakeup of its board and leadership in recent months as it looks recover from months of bad press, public scrutiny and a declining share price.

What they said: "Qantas Frequent Flyers have access to up to 5 million reward seats and late last year we invested heavily in making more available during the European summer," Hudson said in a statement. "We’re working on some more improvements that we expect to announce in coming months, which we think will be very well received by our millions of members."
