QBE names Monarch Point Re CEO Christopher Harris as non-executive director

The news: Insurance group QBE has appointed Christopher Harris as a non-executive director, effective 6 July, subject to regulatory approvals.
The context: Harris currently chairs the QBE Capital board since 9 May, as well serving as the CEO and board member for private speciality reinsurer Monarch Point Re.
Prior to these appointments, he spent more than 13 years at Montpelier Re before being named CEO in 2008.
Harris is also recognised as a board leadership fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors.
What they said: “His knowledge of QBE through his role as chair of QBE Capital will enable him to make an immediate contribution to the board,” QBE chair Yasmin Allen said.
“His appointment also reflects the ongoing and disciplined approach we are taking to board composition,” she added.
