Regal Partners names AIA Australia chairman Peter Yates as chair-elect
The news: Investment manager Regal Partners has appointed AIA Australia chairman Peter Yates as an independent non-executive director and chair-elect, effective today.
Current chair Michael Cole, who has served in the role since June 2022, will retire from the board following the company’s annual general meeting on 28 May.
The context: Yates is currently chairman of AIA Australia, a subsidiary of Hong Kong-listed insurance giant AIA Group, having served on the board since 2010.
He is also a director of Mutual Trust and the Australian Japan Business Co-operation Committee, among other roles.
Yates was chief executive of Oceania Capital Partners between 2004 and 2007, and chief executive of Publishing and Broadcasting Limited from 2001 to 2004.
He previously spent 15 years with Macquarie Bank.
