The news: Santos has appointed former Newcrest interim chief executive and Woodside Energy chief financial officer Sherry Duhe as its new CFO, replacing Anthea McKinnell who is retiring.

The context: Duhe, who will commence the role in mid-October, most recently served as interim CEO at Newcrest, where she led the sale of the company to fellow gold miner Newmont last year.

Prior to that, she was Woodside Energy's CFO for four years until early 2022, following a 13-year career with Shell where she held a number of international finance roles.

What they said: "Anthea joined Santos more than five years ago and has steered the finance function through a period of significant inorganic and organic growth," said Santos managing director and CEO Kevin Gallagher.

"Sherry's demonstrated financial capability, knowledge of the complex and dynamic energy and financial markets in which Santos operates, and experience in engaging with investors, capital markets and governments, positions her well to support the Santos management team and board of directors in delivering superior value for our shareholders into the future," Gallagher said.
