Santos signs LNG supply contract with QatarEnergy Trading
The news: Fossil fuel exporter Santos has signed a two-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply contract with the state-owned QatarEnergy Trading.
The numbers: Santos will supply about 0.5 million tonnes of LNG per annum over a two year period from 2026.
Santos’ portfolio is around 90 per cent contracted and 85 per cent oil linked on average between 2025-29. Between 2025 and 2027, the average contract price across the whole portfolio is around 14.7% of the price of Brent crude oil.
The context: “This contract reinforces our ability to leverage our flexible LNG portfolio to achieve great outcomes for Santos and our customers,” Santos managing director and chief executive Kevin Gallagher said.
He also said the company continues to see “very strong demand in Asia for high heating value LNG from projects such as Barossa and PNG LNG, as well as for reliable regional supply”.
