Scentre Group appoints former CSR boss Julie Coates to board

The news: Westfield owner Scentre Group has appointed former CSR chief executive Julie Coates as a non-executive director, effective 1 October.

The context: Coates' most recent executive role was as managing director and CEO of building products group CSR. She also held positions at Woolworths for more than a decade, including as managing director of Big W. She is currently a non-executive director of Wesfarmers and a director of the Green Building Council of Australia.

What they said: "Her broad experience including retail and customer experience, building materials and consumer goods, will further strengthen and complement the board's existing skills and expertise," said Scentre Group chair Ilana Atlas.
