Sigma Healthcare completes Chemist Warehouse acquisition

The news: Chemist Warehouse is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Sigma Healthcare, after the listed pharmacy wholesaler completed its buyout of the retail chain.

The numbers: Sigma shares were down 1.6% to $2.75 at 2:30pm AEDT, but has rocketed 156.5% over the last 12 months.

The context: New Sigma shares issued under the scheme of arrangement will begin trading on Thursday.

Chemist Warehouse co-founders Jack Gance and Mario Verrocchi have been appointed as new directors of Sigma, effective today, as have Chemist Warehouse director Damien Gance, and Chemist Warehouse franchisee Danielle Di Pilla.

Kate Spargo has resigned as director of Sigma following implementation of the scheme, having served on the board since 2015.
