Simon Lee to step down from Emerald Resources board

The news: Gold miner Emerald Resources says industry veteran and non-executive director Simon Lee will step down from the board at its upcoming annual general meeting.

The numbers: Lee will retire effective the company’s annual general meeting on 29 November. He has served on the board for over 10 years having joined as inaugural chair in 2014.

Emerald Resources shares were trading 0.4% lower at $3.79 in early trading.

The context: Emerald, which operates gold projects in both Australia and Cambodia, said Lee had decided to retire from his working commitments in the mining industry.

He stepped down as Emerald’s chair in 2023, and has previously been involved in building billion-dollar gold mining companies including Great Victoria Gold, Samantha Gold and Equigold NL.

He has also been a board member of the Australian Trade Commission and President of the Western Australian Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
