The news: Sims Metals has announced a series of board changes aimed at supporting its leadership succession strategy and accelerating the growth of its Sims Lifecyle Services (SLS) division.

The context: The changes follow the retirement of the managing director of ANZ Metal, John Glyde, after a 42-year tenure. Effective 1 July, the outgoing director will remain with the company in an advisory capacity until mid-2027.

The current president of North America Metal, Rob Thompson, has been named president of Global Sims Metal, effective 1 July, having served the company since 2022.

President of SLS, Ingrid Sinclair, has also announced her resignation after 19 years with the business, while a search process commences for her successor.

Separately, the company appointed Jeff Wysocki as its group chief technology officer on 1 May, leveraging his more than 30 years of global leadership experience.

What they said: “These appointments and transitions position the company well to continue executing its strategic priorities and pursuing future growth opportunities,” Sims CEO Stephen Mikkelsen said.
