Spark NZ confirms data centre sale process 'ongoing' amid media speculation
The news: Spark New Zealand has confirmed that efforts to find a capital partner for its data centre business are ongoing, after a news report claimed private markets investor Pacific Equity Partners (PEP) was in "advanced negotiations" with the telecoms company.
The context: A report in the Australian Financial Review on Sunday claimed that PEP is expected to be granted exclusivity to acquire between 50% and 75% in Spark's data centres platform "within days".
It comes after Spark received binding bids from Northleaf Capital Partners and Igneo Infrastructure Partners in July, the report said.
