The news: Star Entertainment Group's external manager Nicholas Weeks' appointment has been extended until 31 March 2025.
The context: Weeks was initially due to finish up the role in September but the New South Wales Independent Casino Commission (NICC) requested the extension to ensure The Star remained operational until the commission issued a decision on the Bell Inquiry Report.
The report was provided to the NICC on 31 July, but is yet to be made public.
What they said: "The NICC will consider the contents of the report before it is made public. The NICC's response to Mr Bell SC's findings will be communicated in due course," the commission said.
