Star Entertainment shares suspended from trading
The news: The ASX has suspended trading of Star Entertainment shares, after the casino operator failed to lodge its full-year financial report last week.
The numbers: The Star's shares last traded at $0.45, having shed more than 50% since January.
The context: The Star entered a trading halt on Friday after a months-long inquiry into the gambling group's suitability to hold a NSW casino licence found that it breached compliance rules on four occasions between September 2022 and July 2024 and remained "presently unsuitable to be concerned in or associated with the management and operation" of its Sydney casino.
The Star, which was expected to release its full-year earnings on Friday, requested the trading halt upon the release of the inquiry's final report, noting that it is considering how the findings may impact its financial results.
