Star Entertainment taps Expedia exec Daniel Finch to run Brisbane ops
The news: Casino operator Star Entertainment is taking the next step in its organisational restructure, appointing Daniel Finch to lead its Brisbane operations.
The numbers: Finch has been Expedia Australia's managing director since 2014, and is expected to start as Star's Brisbane CEO from mid-February.
The context: Star is shaking up its organisational structure after a sustained period of bad press, fines and casino licence suspensions in the wake of money laundering regulation breaches. Star will have CEOs in each of its venues in Sydney, the Gold Coast and Brisbane, with Finch the second appointment after Jess Mellor was tapped to lead Star's Gold Coast operations. Star said the search for its Sydney chief was still under way.
What they said: "Daniel brings exceptional leadership capability to The Star, having developed high performance teams while overseeing Expedia brands and businesses in Australia and New Zealand," Star Group CEO and managing director Robbie Cooke said in a statement. "He has a reputation and an exceptional background for building team culture through periods of significant organisational change."
