Startup crowd-funder Birchal to launch capital raising

The news: Australian startup crowd-sourced funding platform Birchal is launching a capital raise of its own during potentially its busiest quarter so far.

The numbers: Birchal has funded 25 campaigns this quarter, already representing a 32% increase on the previous corresponding period. The company helps raise funds for startups and early stage businesses, helping to deploy $190 million in investment capital in the past five years. Birchal did not disclose a target, but said its previous raise in 2022 achieved its maximum target of $3 million in two hours.

What they said: "Our ambition is to emulate the success of Australian-grown digital marketplaces and create the primary destination for founders to tell stories, build communities, and raise capital online," Birchal co-founder and CEO Matt Vitale said in a statement.
