Steadfast CEO resumes role after investigation into workplace complaint
The news: Steadfast Group said that its managing director and CEO, Robert Kelly AM, will return to his role following the conclusion of an external investigation into a workplace complaint.
The context: On 30 October, Steadfast announced that Kelly had chosen to stand aside on a temporary basis to enable the investigation to progress into the complaint made against him.
The insurance broker did not disclose any details around the complaint, but the AFR reported that the complaint centered around a LinkedIn post where Peg Vaghaye from CGU Insurance had written about her departure from the firm. Kelly, among many other commenters, posted his personal mobile phone number and the devil-faced emoji.
Kelly told the AFR that the comment was an innocuous joke about having tried to Vaghaye for a job with Steadfast. The paper said Vaghaye backed Kelly’s story and that she understood the joke he was attempting to make.
