Stockland appoints former GPT CEO Robert Johnston as chairman
The news: Diversified property group Stockland has named Robert Johnston as its incoming chairman, effective 19 October and succeeding Thomas Pockett, following the conclusion of the company’s annual general meeting.
The context: Johnston brings more than 30 years’ experience in senior positions spanning investment, development, project management and construction. He has served on the Stockland board since October 2024 as a member of the audit and the people and culture committees.
Prior to this appointment, Johnston served as the chief executive officer of GPT and managing director of Frasers Property, alongside a range of senior positions with Lendlease.
Johnson currently serves as a director of Perth Airport and Wellington International Airport.
What they said: “His extensive property sector experience, proven executive leadership and strong understanding of complex capital, development and operational business make him an outstanding choice as chairman,” Pockett said.
“Since joining the board, Bob (Robert) has made a strong contribution and demonstrated a deep commitment to creating long-term value for security holders,” he added.
