Stockland consortium finalised for NSW’s Waterloo renewal project

The news: The New South Wales government has finalised a consortium of property developer Stockland, Link Wentworth, City West Housing and Birribee Housing to develop the Waterloo Renewal Project.

The numbers: The project will deliver more than 3,000 new homes in the inner city, within walking distance of local amenities and public transport including the Waterloo Metro. Half of these will be dedicated to social and affordable housing.

The context: The project is part of the NSW Government’s $6.6 billion Building Homes for NSW program to develop new public and affordable housing as well as upgrade existing social housing properties. The Stockland consortium was named as the preferred partner for the estimated $3 billion project in August 2024. Stockland said on Thursday contrctual negotiations to undertake the development have been finalised with Homes NSW.
