Super Retail Group sees 8% drop in FY profit and appoints new Macpac boss

The news: Supercheap Auto and Rebel owner Super Retail Group has reported an 8% slide in full-year profit to $222 million, as managing director and CEO Anthony Heraghty pointed to a "challenging retail environment and heightened competitive activity" during the year.

Super Retail also announced the appointment of former Kathmandu CEO Reuben Casey as managing director of its outdoor apparel brand Macpac, following Cathy Seaholme's decision to leave the role after four years with the company.

The numbers: Group sales rose 4.5% year on year to $4.07 billion, with like-for-like growth across each of its brands. Group gross margin decreased by 50 basis points to 45.6%, impacted by elevated stock loss, particularly at Rebel.

The company declared a final dividend of 34 cents per share, and a special dividend of 30 cents per share. This takes full-year dividends to 96 cents per share, down from $1.19 per share last year.

Super Retail said it also experienced a "positive start" to FY26, with like-for-like sales growth of 3.1% and total sales growth of 5% for the first seven weeks of the year.

The context: Super Retail said store investments, including the expansion of its network and refurbishments, contributed to revenue growth during fiscal 2025. The group said it saw a "strong performance" at BCF, a "solid result" from Rebel, and "softer outcomes" for Supercheap Auto and Macpac.
