Superannuation fund delegation heads to France, UK
The news: Six industry superannuation fund leaders are meeting with government officials and industry leaders in France and the UK this week as they look for investment opportunities.
The context: The super funds include AustralianSuper, Australian Retirement Trust, Aware Super, CBUS, HESTA and Rest. IFM Investors and the Super Members Council (SMC) will also be on the trip, with the UK’s largest workplace pension scheme NEST also part of the delegation.
IFM said France and the UK are attractive investment destinations with mature infrastructure markets, stable regulatory settings and high-quality assets that are suited to long-term retirement outcomes.
It noted that super fund investment in the EU and the UK is projected to exceed $660 billion over the next decade.
The delegation follows a similar delegation in March that saw eight super funds along with IFM, the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia and SMC travel to the US for the second Superannuation Investment Summit.
