Thomson Reuters takes majority stake in e-invoicing firm Pagero

The news: Content and technology company, Thomson Reuters, has acquired a majority stake in Swedish e-invoicing firm, Pagero.

The numbers: Thomson Reuters increased its offer by 25% to USD789 million ($1.2 billion) on Monday to acquire 53.81% of the company.

The context: Earlier this month, Thomson Reuters submitted an offer to acquire 100% of Pagero’s shares for USD627 million ($941 million), which was already a premium on the company’s stock price and comfortably above an offer from rival bidder, Vertex.

Steve Hasker, CEO and president at Thomson Reuters said that today’s revised offer “is highly compelling for Pagero's shareholders, confirmed by the unanimous recommendation from the independent bid committee.”
