The news: Toll roads company Transurban has outlined changes to its organisational structure that will reshuffle its executive ranks and eliminate some state-based lead executive roles.

The numbers: Under the new operating model, four new executive roles will be created: chief commercial officer, group executive Australian markets, group executive delivery and risk, and group executive corporate affairs.

Simultaneously, the company’s group executive roles in charge of New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria roles have been retired, resulting in NSW boss Sue Johnson and Queensland executive lead Michele Huey leaving the company.

The context: Transurban has appointed delivery and risk group executive partner Hugh Wehby as chief commercial officer, while Victoria executive lead Nicole Green will become group executive Australian markets.

It has also started an executive search for the group executive delivery and risk and group executive corporate affairs positions.

What they said: CEO Michelle Jablko said the new structure would support the group’s strategic growth agenda.

“These changes to how we operate will help achieve that, by removing complexity and creating further simplicity and efficiency that will best position us going forward," she said.
