The news: Toll road group Transurban said it is willing to remove administration fees in New South Wales, as it continues to engage with the state government on toll road reforms.
The numbers: The company said it is prepared to scrap administration fees by mid-2026 and pay the NSW government for any increased demand resulting from the permanent $60-per-week toll road cap that is set to come into force from 1 July 2026.
The context: Transurban, which operates 11 toll roads in Sydney, said proposed changes to the toll road system are due to be finalised in the first half of 2026.
What they said: "In what has been a constructive and positive process, we're pleased to have made significant progress with the NSW government on toll reform," said Transurban CEO Michelle Jablko.
"This outcome is a step towards delivery of a fairer and simpler system for NSW, that benefits motorists across Sydney, while continuing to protect the value of the investment Transurban and its partners have made in the city's roads over nearly two decades."
