The Trump Organisation launches US$499 ‘Trump Mobile’ and phone plan

The news: The Trump Organisation on Monday unveiled a mobile phone plan alongside a USD499 ($763.10) smartphone which is set to launch in the coming months.
The numbers: The new service called Trump Mobile offers a USD47.45 per-month plan (coined the 47 plan) that includes unlimited talk, text and data, as well as roadside assistance and healthcare perks.
The context: The product, which will be “made in America” was launched by US President Donald Trump’s sons Eric and Donald Trump Jr at Trump Tower in New York, on the 10-year anniversary of their father’s announcement that he would run in the 2016 presidential election.
A press release from The Trump Organisation says that in addition to free international calling to more than 100 countries, including many “with American military bases to help honour the families who are bravely serving in our military abroad,” the plan also includes telehealth services.
The telehealth benefits include virtual medical care, mental health support, and ordering and delivery options for prescription medications.
The Trump Mobile ‘T1’ smartphone appears to be a gold-coloured metal phone with an etching of an American flag.
References to 47 appear throughout the announcement are a nod to Trump’s current position as the 47th US President.
