The news: The leaders of Britain, France and Canada warned they will take “further concrete actions” if Israel does not stop its renewed military offensive in Gaza and lift aid restrictions.

What they said: The joint statement by Keir Starmer, Emmanuel Macron and Mark Carney condemned Israel’s military operations as “wholly disproportionate” and said the “denial of essential humanitarian assistance” is “unacceptable” and “risks breaching International Humanitarian Law.”

They called Israel’s limited aid announcement “wholly inadequate,” criticised “abhorrent language” from Israeli politicians suggesting civilians will relocate, and rejected any “permanent forced displacement.”

The leaders also opposed settlement expansion, which they said “undermines the viability of a Palestinian state,” and warned they “will not hesitate to take further action, including targeted sanctions.”

Israel’s Prime Minister said the statement offers “a huge prize” for Hamas’s 7 October attack. The UN said nine aid trucks entered Gaza on Monday—a “drop in the ocean” of what is urgently needed, as 2 million face starvation.
