Virgin Australia appoints Dave Emerson as CEO
The news: Virgin Australia has appointed Dave Emerson as its new chief executive, succeeding Jayne Hrdlicka, who announced her retirement last month.
The context: Emerson has served as Virgin Australia's chief commercial officer since June 2021, following leadership roles at America West Airlines and Bain & Company.
He will formally begin as CEO on 14 March, with Hrdlicka staying with the company for "the next few months" to support the transition.
What they said: "Having had the opportunity to work with Dave over the last four years we recognise his unique breadth of commercial, digital and customer experience plus his deep knowledge of Australian aviation," said Virgin Australia chairman Ryan Cotton.
"He is well placed to support the strong momentum of the business and ensure the team continues to go from strength to strength.”
